Did the field fill last year? This will be my first time in the tournament. What other awesomeness should I expect?

The field was half full last year, which was the first year of the tourney. It's at that point right now with many people calling about it so we expect a good showing.

The payout was doubled this year and the prizes that have been coming in have been very nice. Some custom items that you won't see elsewhere. There's also random drawings for a 2014 Shootout entry and a week stay at Horseshoe Bay Lodge. Lots of prizes to be won. To get everyone fired up we have a Leech Lake guide come in at the rules meeting Friday night to share some insight of whats been happening on the lake. At the marina each team will be assigned a boat slip so there will be no jockeying around for slips. Electricity to each slip is provided. $30 meal plan will feed you for the entire weekend. 2 breakfast buffets, grab bag lunch for Saturday, Saturday night supper and a sandwich bar after the tourney. The biggest attraction is the giants that swim in Leech and they are going to be putting on the feed bag as fall is here so expect some heavy weights. This is a fun tourney to fish.

The last week or so has been very good on Leech. Multiple 50" fish and they're starting to put on the weight. Some heavy skis CPR'd. Looking forward to a great tourney!

Still some time left to register.

13 muskies were boated. Plenty of other fish raised including a giant mid 50's lost at the net. Heart breaker! The biggest muskie was 51.25". The team of Jim Kath and Dan Burrow repeated as Champs registering 3 fish. 43", 47" and a 50". They took home $2000 in cash and prizes. Congrats to the defending champs!

Visit www.muskieshootout.com for complete results and a few pics of some fish caught. There will be a photo album uploaded along with details of what happened to the site shortly.

It's a great tourney to fish with a ton of prizes and cash to win. Leech Lake doesn't disappoint in the big fish department.
