| The majority of the people that fish trout water (clear water) I am assuming use deeper presentations. However, I do know that topwaters are very sucessful at certain times on these bodies of waters. I'm curious to know waht everybody's favorite color pattern is for clear water lakes? Are you fishing these lakes during the day or night with topwaters?
Me personally, like to stay with the good ole black during the night. |

| Though I'm certainly no expert, many of the waters here are clear, and night fishing, especially in the warm months are the ticket. Like you said, black is usually the choice; BUT--I think any color w/ a bait that produces some noise/vibration and a steady retrieve will produce. This is typical for the rockfish here, and I have yet to catch a ski at night; 6 years ago I had 2 blow ups in shallow water that left tooth marks all over me bait, and caused quite a stir w/ bystanders. In fact, me last ski was about 26-27" long, 2 years ago! My self confidence is gone, my family has abandoned me...I'm starting to feel like Howard Hughes in his latter years![:blackeye:] [;)]
**Failed to mention the fact that the h2o here is for the most part alewives/gizzard or hickory shad; they often come to the surface in the evening , and will come up on flats in the winter as the sun warms the water. |

| Hey bro I know I had talked to you earlier about this but I forgot to mention. I think that color isn't as critical as is the sound when it comes to topwater. I'm a big believer in "singing the perfect tune" more so than the visual aspects of the bait. I think the fish already knows where the bait is in relation to the sound, so it's a matter of tickling the lateral line for the strike.

| Black is best, overall, for creating a contrast with the background (sky) under any condition. Divani stated my thinking on topwater colors in general.[:bigsmile:] |
