Okay

I know we all try to fish whenever we can. But when you are planning a trip (like a weeks vacation) do you plan your trip around a new moon or a full moon and why?

Thanks
BNelson

lots of variables there but something to consider is when you plan on being on the water, some lakes like Eagle Lake you can't fish at night...so imo moon down during the day is better, some lakes you can fish at night but many don't because of hazards like lotw, again, I'd opt for moondown weeks vs moon up........
again, in fall most fish during the day i'd take a moon down week
if you plan on fishing mid summer nights to mid sept full moon weeks can be great too.... just depends on where and time of year.... some things to consider

Good post. I have been trying to look up info online for solunar info. I have a trip planned in July and it happens to fall during a New Moon phase. That was simply coincidence, as I reserved the cabin before reading a book. I definitely need the moons help this year! But plan on spending much more time on the water if the weather permits this year.

That's tough to pick one, cause I like both.

I agree with BNelson, too many variables. Anytime I go to ON, I am looking for new moon weeks. I fish LOTW a lot, and that's not a lake where I wanna be running around at night. So, the dark moon has proven to be great when daytime fishing is the deal. If you go to a clear(er) (can be good in dark water too) lake in MN or WI, a bright moon week can be awesome and you should be on the water at night as much as you can. If you combine that with mid-late summer or early-fall time of year, you are putting yourself in a pretty good spot.
