| I had just purchased the st croix legend tournament long ranger. I replaced my 8ft heavy premier for this rod. The muskie i will be fishing for are not massive but i was just wosering if this rod would be able to handle double 8s or 10s? I have paired it up with a calcutta 400te. Anyone have this rod and tried double 10s etc? Any stuggles with this rod?

Location: Michigan | It will work for 8s, but isn't the best option for 10s. It just doesn't have the backbone for double 10s and will really load up in the figure 8. It is really nice for 8s, topwaters, smaller twitchbaits, etc, but I wouldn't use it for 10s. |

| Opinions are what they are. I really like throwing 10's with a Long Ranger. I've got a Winch on the rod but have also tried it with a 400D. I think it throws them with considerable ease. A friend on LOTW who has a tranx on one and throws 10's with it got me hooked on it and although I didn't care for the size of the tranx, I love the rod. I wouldn't worry in the slightest about the size of fish that you can catch on it. I used to use my 9'3" Okuma for 10's, but don't miss the weight of slinging that rod all day in the slightest.

Location: sneaking out to get on the water ;-) | I have one and it works great for dbl 8's and smaller. Like stated it depends on your preference. For me the long ranger is way too flexy for tens. It's partially loaded just bringing them in and way to much flex in the 8. I like the big nasty for 10s I feel it's a lot less work with the nasty. |
