Location: NE Wisconsin | I heard there is a question about the legality of quick set sucker rigs in WI which use trebles with a bent hook shaft, like various lift off rigs. Word is law some enforcement in Madison thinks when you bend a shaft of a treble hook it no longer is a treble hook, but a double hook, which is illegal under WI's new quick set rig regulation. Has anyone else heard anything of this?? |

Location: Madison WI | I reviewed the rule book for 2012 and from what I can see is that there isn't any clear definition of what a "quick strike" rig is. Most of us muskie guys know what we would consider a quick strike rig but the rules don't say anything about it. I would have to think that because of this that it would be up to individual interpretation by said warden and we all know where that can go sometimes. There is 1 picture in the entire book showing a quick strike rig and to be honest I can't tell if one of the shafts is bent or not. I really hope no warden would get that nit picky regarding your quick strike rig assuming you are using treble hooks. I am going to try and contact some of the wardens I know and see what there take on it is. |

Location: Elk Grove Village, IL & Phillips, WI | What I want to know is where they came up with the name "quick strike rig". It is a "quick set rig"! Fish strike, fishermen set! |

| If it becomes an issue you can use some JB weld and add a safety pin to the hook , Thats how I do it anyways . It allows you to have three hooks instead of two . Works pretty well |

| I would like to see the look on the judges face when you bring a brand new in the package quick strike rig to court and it has bent hooks. I would guess he wouldn't be too happy with a CO who wastes his time with a cite for a bent treble.
Hopefully this is just a rumor or confusion on the CO's part and no cites were issued. |

| It says u must use treble hooks on a quick set rig. Treble just means three right? Even if one hook is bent it still has three hooks!
