What is involved with converting a a boat with a 12v system to a 24 volt set up?

Thanks

You got to upgrade the wiring 8 gauge. Bass pro has a whole package for a hundered bucks that you need. Here it is

Plus you need to marine batteries I bought mine at farm and fleet and they were the group size 27 and in that bass pro kit you buy it has a jumper that goes from the negative terminal on one.battery to the positive on the other battery and then the other open terminals are the positive and negative leads for your trolling motor.

Another option is the Marinco system that converts the 12 to 24 in the plug. No jumper wire needed.

I wouldn't call 8 ga an upgrade. It's likely he already has 8 ga. I've never seen a boat wired with 10 for a trolling motor. Depending on the trolling motor power, and cable length, going to 6 ga would be an upgrade.

How many wires run from the battery compartment to the TM recept? Is there any markings on these wires?
