| AS tough as it has been for me and many others, great numbers of big fish have been taken from the Cave in the past 5 days. Kentucky Mountain Muskie guide clients, lodge guest and guides have landed fish of 50,48 1/2,47 1/2,
47 1/2,46 1/2 and 44 1/2 since Friday. Most of these fish have come from the flat areas of the main lake on top waters and Deucetails. Only one fish was taken trolling. October has been unseasonally slow but it looks like things are starting to pick up. Our water is 3 feet below summer pool with a surface temp of around 64 degrees. Keep your baits close to weeds and you should move fish. For more info check out our report at www.kymuskie.com |

| We just got back from our stay at the Mountain Muskie Lodge on the Cave, and had a blast! We landed 7 fish during the week, with 4 legal and 3 under. For pre-turnover conditons it was a bit difficult, but persistance paid off.
Unfortunately we arrived during a drastic drawdown, but we played the cards we were dealt. We raised over 20 fish during the week, with 3 over 50", but had a hard time getting the bigger fish to commit. I lost a solid mid to upper 40's boatside and the rest of the fish landed were under 40".
Most of the fish were taken tight to main lake structure with weedbeds. The larger fish raised were generally holding outside of the spots that were getting pounded. The flats on the main lake were producing quality fish on transition areas by casting from the beds out to hard bottom rather than into the transition areas. Two of the 50"+ fish showed themselves there.
Main lake points with a mix of timber and weeds were also producing. One of the surprise producers during the week was a Figure 8 Prowler and Big Daddy. If you're fishing the beds, try it. At least when I was down there, slow rolling this lure pulled fish out of some beds on the 2nd or 3rd pass when others wouldn't. I had good luck with 6" Reef Hawgs and Grim-Reapers spinner baits as well.
If you're heading down there, make sure you give Tony Grant a call. He and his guides are some of the best fisherman I've ever met, and they are great guys to boot.
Thanks Tony!
Good fishin',
Tyler Campbell
P.S. That fish I'm holding was my girlfriend Chisty's. We had a hard time boatside with a cradle and just wanted to get it back into the water asap. The cradle is in the garbage now... Going back to my Frabill. |

| With water temps in the low 50's and water levels constantly up and down the Cave has been no great joy over the past few weeks.Almost every two days we have had nasty cold fronts moving in and out along with temps averaging 15 degrees below normal. Jerkbaits to no surprize seem to be the most productive, Burts are taking alot of fish. To my amazement spinnerbaits have taken a good number of muskies which is unussual under these colder than normal water temps. One and two ounze Grim Reapers have but 3 fish in my boat in 5 days. Wednesday a TopRaider gave me my largest fish on the month, Buuldawgs as always are producing fish. The troll bite sucks!!!!!
