I have a 7ft M/H rod. I broke about a foot off of it. What would be the adverse effects if i just put a new tip on it?

You will get a 6' Super Heavy rod, the perfect reason to buy a new rod (incase you have a wife/parents who dont enjoy new gear all the time)

Perhaps you could use it as a jerk bait rod.

I once visited the St. Croix factory to take a look at their 2nds. It was pretty amazing what taking only an inch or two off the tip of the rod did to the action and power. Taking off just a little makes them slower and a LOT heavier action. Taking a foot off a walleye rod will nearly make it a pool cue. I think taking a foot off a musky rod will make it so stiff it really will not work for much of anything.

I am a tight wad for the most part, but I probably would be looking for a new rod myself.
Hope that helps.
