Location: Maribel WI | Used my 2006 Power Drive with Auto Pilot for the first time this year; yes May 30th. Anyway, dropped it down and the red AP light would not light when I pushed the button. Then tried steering it with the foot pedal. Nothing. The propeller functioned fine, but motor would not change directions. Wasn't even trying. Tried my "back-up" foot pedal and same thing. No obvious wiring issues. Worked fine last Nov. Wondering if someone has a quick diagnosis before I take it in or upgrade to a Terrova IPilot....
Thanks in Advance. |

what model is your minnkota?if it is a v2[it will be designated on the cover] it can be upgraded to a the i-pilot for around $400.if it is an older power drive you are screwed as the control board is not adaptable.a new terrova 80/us2 with i-pilot/45 or 60"shaft with "semi-good guy" discount will cost you $1299 plus freight.they are awesome!!!!!!they make fishing SO much more enjoyable it's amazing, especially for us old kids. |

Location: Grand Forks ND | Look at the coiled cable where it enters the head of the unit. Wiggle it around and push it forward and see if the foot pedal starts working again. There is a lot of strain at this point, especially if you have a shorter shaft and have to have the motor all the way down. If the coiled cable is the problem you can get a new one for around $40 online. |

| I have the same problem on mine. I wiggle the coiled wire where it connects to the head and there it goes again. WTF. All I need to do is replace the coiled wire? |

| Mine was acting up as well. I took off the covers and found one of the connectors partially pulled apart. Cheap connectors if you ask me. I put some dielectric grease on them and crimped it a little and all seems fine so far. Before replacing that coiled wire check those connectors. |

Location: Maribel WI | Board and Auto Pilot compass are fried. Now just have to decide if I want to put $175 in parts into a 5 year old motor.
Thanks for the help. |
