| So I've been searching threads and have found so much info my head is spinning! I know all these topics have been covered but not in the same place or in order. I know I'm asking a lot here but I think it would help many of us newbies! So here's the question: What are the basic finishing steps for wood and plastic including products names and any tips?? Example: For wood
1. Sanding sealer
2. E-tex
3. Kilz primer
4. Createx base
5. Createx detail
6. E-tex 3 coats
I'm not looking for corrections this is just an example. I'm wondering about both wood and plastic. Thanks in advance! It's really cool how much info you guys share. It saves us rookies tons of time and $$$! Thanks again, Ben

| It's a lot like another hobby I am into.
One reaches the point where some information is gleaned through research and of course one has his own intellect, ideas to bring and the point is reached where studies are exhausted so the only thing left is to get one's hands dirty and further the experience by just that, experience.

rough sand your blank
sanding sealer
sand the blank smooth and get the dust off with denatured alcohol
e-tex
airbrush your paint on,,,figure out what base you want light or dark do that first
let dry
e-tex 3 thin coats,,,,and use a lure turner till it tacks up good
and no matter how much you want to.....DO NOT TOUCH for two days.

Location: Okoboji | skip the kilz, if you get it on too thick or it doesnt dry enough you will have adhesion problems. |

Location: Pigeon Forge TN. | I can't help too much with the items you mentioned as I do not use createx paints or make the baits. I do clean the wooden baits I get in with denatured alchohol, Then I prime with a non-sanding sealer. Than i spray my base coat and move on with the rest of the colors as I can spray wet over wet. I use only solvent based lacquers.
My final clear coat is a good quality automotive two part eurethane.
I also spray the same on butylrate (spelling) and ABS plastics as the lacquer bites into them. The ABS is the strongest of the two.

Location: Okoboji | As a custom car guy I have experience with urethanes....I stress you all wear fresh air hood or at least organic cartridges in your respirators spraying urethanes..isos kill
You probally know that but safety first and stan I know you know
