How is the main lake producing? Has hot weather led to any patterns? I heard that the lake level was considerably up due to the recent heavy rains.
Any info appreciated.
Thanks,
Don

DJ,

When are you going up and have you been there before? I am making my first Leech Lake trip in August. I can't wait. [:p]

Earth- July 27-Aug 10. We stay on the very far east side of the main lake. Been there for years. The nearest places for me to fish muskie are Pelican Island and Pelican reef. Miller Bay, Diamond Point and the Pipe Islands are other spots. Spotted some fish near the two islands last year.
Hoping the flies are all gone and the weather is stable by the time we get up there.

DJ,

We are staying at Chippewa Lodge, which is down in the southeast part of the main lake as well. I'm planning to mainly fish Pipe Island and also the Brevik Narrows. If the wind isn't too bad hopefully I can make it out to Pelican. I've hired AL Maas for a guide on Monday. Have you fished other species there that are close to the resort? I may even pull the boat out a couple times. One to go fish Agency and Walker Bay, and one to maybe go down and fish Little Boy and Wabedo. Hope you have some good fishing. I haven't heard any kind of report though from up there. If I do I will let you know.

Andrew

The fish are on the move finally on Leech. I caught a 46 this afternoon and a 42 last night. Both fish in the weeds and on bucktails. One was on a Musky Candy, black with flame blade. The other on a BooTail, kinda rust colored with two copper blades. Raised about ten other fish and did my hardest to keep two from eating. They are bad shots as Doug Johnson says.

Fish are in the weed beds and on the rocks in the Pelican area. Come on up.

Good luck, Murph
