Here is the deal - For over a year - I have been looking for a lowrance sonar/gps. I would like to get the most for my money and something that I am not going to have any issues with. I maily fish in Wisconsin and may head to Canada next year.
I was looking at Cabelas. This Sonar with GPS is on sale.

Does anyone have one have this unit or have any suggestions.
Thanks!

I have the 113 which is basically the same as the 27 except the 113 has a bigger screen and built in map software. I really like my unit, in fact this is the second 113 I have had I like them so much.

Be warned though that Lowrance is coming out with all new units for 2009 and I presume that the 27, 37, and 113 series will be dropped so prices on the old units will be coming down pretty good in the coming months.

I have two of these units. They worked flawlessly for me this year and wouldn't dare own any other. Anyone of the Lowrance products in my opinion are top shelf.

In my opinion, I don't think you can go wrong with this one. If you have any other particular questions, ask away or pm me, I'd be glad to answer from my experience with these units.

that's a good price on a nice big screen combo. it would probably serve you well under most conditions.

one limitation is that the model that's on sale is with the single frequency transducer only.
i've experienced conditions (such as high wind or current resulting in lots of noise and clutter, extremely deep water, or extremely shallow water, etc.) where switching between the high and low frequency settings on my transducer has resulted in getting better information. ie., one frequency or the other reveals better bottom detail or baitfish returns.
combining the ability to change frequency with manually adjusting the settings on the unit gives you the most options for getting the best possible detail.

it's worth considering the dual-frequency model if you want to get a Lowrance.

also, if you consider a dual frequency unit, don't overlook the comparable Humminbird 917c. when comparing feature-for-feature with the Lowrance, it's cost is very attractive. having owned both the Lowrance and Humminbird units, i've switched to Humminbird as i find them to offer better performance and reliability.

humminbirds can't run lakemaster chips...currently...just FYI
The lakemaster chips are awesome for MN and WI lakes. I have both the Navionics and Lakemaster and I use my lakemaster almost all the time.

While the dula frequency tranducer is nice it is also known for it's habit to break. I know a guy who works for Lowrance and he HIGHLY recomended not getting a dual frequency. He said something about the lower frequency actually tears the transducer apart.
