| 1. Rod- Suggestions for a rod that is 8' 6" that can pair up with a 7000iC3 nicely and can handle double 10s and 13s. Due to the weight of the 7000iC3, I am looking for a rod that is not super heavy for its size.
2. Rod/Reel combo- I am considering buying a shimano curado 300 DSV if I can find one for burning smaller bucktails. If anyone has any other suggestions for burning smaller bucktails I would like to hear that as well. What is a good rod for burning smaller bucktails and absorbing the shock of a strike when the lure is being burned? Again, I like the longer rods 8' to 8' 6". Also, what brand of line do you guys recommend and pound test for this application. I want to be able to cast as far as possible, but I also don't want my line to break from a fish. Thanks

| There are many to choose from, but I had one custom made from Keith at Professional Edge. Otherwise, St. Croix, Lamiglas (costlier), and others make good rods. |

| Options are endless. Whats your price range? If you want to go custom I can recommend some great blanks. I found tuna rods are some of the best musky blanks out there. Below also comes in 8'

| Thanks for your reply. As of now, I am looking at getting a st. croix 8' 6" XH on sale for $160, originally $200 for my DCG rod.
For the smaller bucktail rod, I am looking at getting a 7' 6" MH st. croix or a shimano compre. That would be with the shimano curado 300 DSV.
I need the cowgirl rod tomorrow for this weekend, that's the only problem. I really am not educated at the nice equipment that is out there in the musky world. I have musky fished the last 4 years with my main fishing rods costing $20 each, no lie. They have caught a lot of fish, but it is time to upgrade.
Price range $100- $200 for each rod or reel

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Look into the Okuma telescoping 8'6" rods. The heavy action is a great rod for the big stuff, the medium heavy great for everything else. About $120. |

| Thanks for the reply Steve. I might look into that. I think my brother has that rod in the heaviest size they make and he broke it casting a pounder already this year (under warranty though), but it is probably better to use for the big bladed baits. I'll have to ask him. I guess the biggest thing I want is a rod that is not super heavy because that 7000iC3 is if you know what I mean. |
