| I have been fortunate enough to receive a trip to Northern Saskatchewan to fish big Pike the last week in June. While I have plenty of Muskie gear I don't know if this would be appropriate gear for Pike. Would I be safe with my downsized spring baits? Will my 7' St Croixs and 6501's be too much? My next size down would be walleye equipment, and I know this would be woefully undersized.
If anyone has any experience on Northern Saskatchewan Pike fishing please inform me on baits and gear, I don't want to overdue my equipment but would rather not buy stuff to use once in Canada.

| I will be on Hatchet Lake for half the week and then three flyouts from there. Any idea what size fish I'm looking at? How about action??? I will be staying at the Hatchet Lake Lodge. Any info appreciated. |

| I have fished northern Saskatchewan on several occasions as well as northern Manitoba and the NorthWest Territories. Don't hesitate to take your muskie gear one bit. These Northerns are not hammer handles by any means. It's not uncommon to land several fish in the 45-48" class with that chance at a 50incher depending on the water body you are going to.
Equipment wise I outfitted myself with my favourite jerkbait rod and bucktail rod, took my fav. musky baits and did better than any other guests at the lodges I visited.
As for a favourite bait.....The Bull Dawg!!!! Colour...Black, Black, Black!!!
The guides will laugh when the see it but they stop laughing after you boat your 150th pike of the day. Pitch that thing anywhere and if there is a pike near by, consider him caught!

| Hatchet Lake Lodge is great...just watch out for a guide by the name of Norm! Little bit of a crazy boat driver!

| Here is another question for you, how do I make my rods and baits travel safe. The last thing I want is three broken rods and a Musky Monster that was lost by the airlines. For some reason I don't think they would consider my Lakewood "carry on luggage." |
