Don, i know you're an avid followed of the muskie tournament scene, and you liked it when we provided more in-depth coverage.
when we ran the PMTT fantasy contest we were able to list all the teams and provide pictures and results through the cooperation of the PMTT.
since that time, Mr. Stella has consistently made posts on our site and others providing links to the PMTT website's daily leaderboard.
here's the link for future reference: http://www.promusky.com/

when we ran the fantasy contest, the PMTT was helpful by providing us a list of all tourney contestants in response to our requests, usually 5-6 days before the start of each event. they didn't publish the list themselves, but they did provide it to us knowing that we'd publish it as part of our contest. for a time they were also willing to provide us with pictures of the tournament winners and pictures of contestants with the fish they caught.

the year before last, for reasons of their own, the PMTT decided to stop sharing the list of contestants and any event pictures with MuskieFirst and we stopped running the fantasy contest and other direct event coverage. my assumption is that with everything else they were doing to get ready in the days leading up to a tournament this was one extra task that was difficult to complete; it's purely speculation on my part but i'm guessing that they're also working to develop their own web property and drive online traffic to their own website: i can understand and respect their self-interest in that regard.

my belief is that the more publicity, the better: it was good for MuskieFirst as it increased site traffic (which is good for advertising), it was good for the PMTT as it increased visibility (which is good for recruiting sponsors and more new teams), and it was good for tournament fans who want to follow this aspect of the sport.

MuskieFirst's coverage was dependant on cooperation with the PMTT. we simply don't have the financial nor personnel resources to cover every muskie tournament independantly.
OutdoorsFirst (through WalleyeFirst.com and BassFirst.com) can do so to some degree for walleye and bass tournaments due to a combination of sponsorship for in-person coverage for those species plus very high cooperation on the part of the various tours putting out informational press releases, etc.

we'd be more than happy to take another look at providing increased direct coverage for the PMTT (and WMT, MMTT, etc.) on MuskieFirst, and i'll send an email to Mr. Widlacki and Mr. Stella about it to gauge their interest in putting something together again that works for everyone's benefit. it's their decision as a business whether that's something they want to enable us to do or if they'd rather provide their own coverage and publicity.

how high is YOUR (everyone's) interest in muskie tournament coverage?
what tournament trails do you have the most interest in reading about?

very close to zero. I'll check it out it it's easy, but I wont seek it out

I pay a little attention to the MMTT because I generally know quite a few guys fishing it. Besides that...dont care much

Mike - are you asking Don or all.

I have an interest in WI tournaments - may that be PMTT or WMT.
I also scan the Tournaments website for a few others like the MMTT.
I'm looking not only who wins, but how (if they are telling the truth). One can build experience through others if the observation of information is combined and screened with working knowledge. If you can recongize the situation/conditions and winning pattern - the next time you are faced with similair conditions - use that "free" knowledge.

Another issue is the 'quality of coverage' we are able to supply to our userbase and the event promoters live and onsite from the event. Here's what we do based upon the PWT, FLW, FLW League, and a few MWC events we cover every year. That's 23 events a year within the Majors, and that doesn't count events like the PWT Can AM and MWC.

I suspect that the Muskie Tournaments format will adapt/grow to a level where our signature 'live' coverage on site will do us both justice; until that time we will select a few to do some onsite work with and bring those reports to you as 'live' as is possible.

We also do as much as is possible for ALL Muskie tournaments with reports, images, and press releases from any event electing to submit that information. That's in the hands of each event PR person, and the PMTT does send us detailed releases.

Here's an example of that type coverage from BassFIRST:

Press release, with photos, formatted to industry standard.

Here's what we do onsite:
Day Three Morning Report... http://walleye.outdoorsfirst.com/board/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=1...

Day Two reports:

That said, if an event promoter would like us to offer better coverage of the events they offer, we are all over that, as long as we can depend on the data to be in our hands on a timely basis, and in a format we can use easily. Contact Slamr or lambeau if you are a promoter and want releases looking like the one I posted entered in the articles database, and they will be delighted to let you know what format we need and what the image size and quality needs to be.
