Location: Slippery Rock, PA | I want to get asome new stick this year and need some opinions. My main concern is with the size of boat I normally fish out of. My dad and best friend have 14' boats and mine is a 17 footer. Right now my longest rod is a couple 7 footers. Do you think a 8 1/2 foot rod is too long to fish out of a 14' boat? I'm looking at either an 8 1/2 okuma telescopic or an 8 foot tica telescopic rod. I need a telescopic rod due to no rod lockers in the 14 footers and mine will accept up to 7' if I squeeze it in just right. The rod will be used to throw mainly double bladed b-tails(cowgirls,dc-10's, etc). I'm not sure if I should go with the heavy or x-heavy action either. Could someone who has these rods give me some input on which action I should be looking at, and if you think a 8 1/2 footer would be too long for the short boats. The rod or rods are getting some abu 7000's put on them. Thanks a ton! |

Location: Beaver County, Pennsylvania | jack, just for the sake of reeling ease i would opt for the XH as they will prolly take a lot of stress off of the reel with the double #10's and what not. i'm not real familiar with the telescopic but from what i'm hearing from a lot of guys with storage issues is that if you are going to be making them barely fit at 7 foot keep the rod tips protected. |

Location: WI | If anyone has an Okuma telescopic or tica telescopic, could you do me a favor??? I'm curious as to how many inches are between the first guide and the middle of the reel seat....(edit)...when extended.

Location: Ogden, Ut | On the Okuma Heavy - 13" when stowed and 32" when extended from mid-reel seat to first guide.
I fish out of a 16.5' boat and find this rod to be my favorite. As mentioned, I would go w/ the XH for big blades.

Induron 400 - makes for a great combo.
