| Any body ever try a quantum Cabo PTs? I would like to here from you.
I had 2 okumas blow up last year pulling cow girls. I know the PT gear are a hard special alloy.

| Cabo's are great for jerkbaits, glidebaits and twitchbaits where line pickup is more important than cranking power. The Cabo is not meant for pulling big blades but is an excellent reel for glides/jerks/twitchbaits--that's what I use my CBC 30PTs for.
For the big blades, go with an Abu 7000C3i or CS, or even better, with a Penn 975 which is smoother and has SS gears that will outlast the Abu.

| Tried the Cabo saltwater version when it first came out, was not Impressed or happy with the reel, a No No for Cow Girls unless you want to wear an armband the following Day......They get real Sloppy after a few months of use. At least mine did ,sold it and was happy to do so...Those big Blades tear up just about any reel out there with a Gear Ratio of 5.0 and higher....have to go to a 4/1 ratio.....Mike

Location: davis,IL | I've got a couple ( CBT30PTS), use them for single tens and double eights. I have no complaints, I ordered a Okuma for the double tens. The main thing with them is the drag ( lock it down or it will slip on hookset) also as soon as it makes any noise or doesn't feel silky smooth lube it up with hot sauce. I've got two years on them (75 - 100 days a year) and still going strong ( love the low profile, great for palming).

| Contact Mike at [url]www.mikesreelrepair.com and ask him for the carbon fibre drag washer (it's Penn HT-100 material, the best stuff) for the Cabo.....that will upgrade the drag significantly. Either that, clean the current washers of grease & oil which is what will be causing it to slip now. The washer should cost you less than 10 bucks. |
