Subject: late fall rods

I was wondering what rods you use in the late fall. I use the heavy ugly stick for trolling, but I need ideas for casting rods. I want a rod I can fish in Nov/Dec that will not break on the hookset. I use St. Croix throughout the year, but I don't know if they can handle the Dec. fishing. Thanks--Todd

If you're fishing in very cold weather, say 20 degres, and are worried about breaking a grafite rod then maybe a St. Croix Pro Glass rod is something to think about. I use these rods for late fall live bait fishing and they hold up great in very cold conditions.

try a lamiglas it's a combo of graphite and fiberglas. I used their blanks for the rods I made for myself. Haven't hada problem with them yet. I have fished with them down to about 32 or 31 degrees after that can't hardly do any casting anyways with ice buildup on guides and in the reel. Hope this helps

I fish more late in the fall than any other time of year. Plenty of time on the water when temps are in the 15 to 25 degree range. I use St. Croix Premiers 95% of the time that time of year and have never had a broken rod.

The lamiglass rods that used to be out of California has moved to Washington. They changed their rod composition to 60% graphite-40% fiberglass, to 100% graphite. I really don't understaind the switch raider. You're right, they used to make the best rod around. Now, they break very easy in late fall. Thanks---just wanted to warn you.

alrighty then. I know i have the old style because you can see where they are combined. Thanks for the info.
