Location: Bloomington MN / Price County WISC | I believe that's the combo a friends got and likes it. Kind of gets down to how fast do you want to go and how much are you willing to spend now and each fill up. |

| What's the max hp rating? I would not under power a boat simply because I like to stay out too long when the front is coming in.It's not about how fast you get there it's about how fast you get back. |

Location: Madison, WI | I have a 1675 Explorer with an 80 4-stroke Yamaha and love it! I think my max rating is 90hp. I would check the max rating and get as close as possible. If you do you won't feel underpowered. |

Location: Illinoise | Thanks for the help. I went to check out the boat and it was really beat up. So I took a pass. However, I think I found the type of boat I want; now I just need to find one in better shape.
The max HP rating for that boat is 115. I think a 90 would be okay, but, would prefer the 115.
Thanks for the responses.

| Over Labor Day weekend I fished in a 2001 Explorer SS 17 footer that had a Merc 75 4 stroke. It went about 35 with 2 guys and gear. A 90hp would be much better and a 115hp would absolutely fly.
