| For a summer weekend fishing outting, I'd stick to water that avoids recreational boater traffic as much as possible. That's if you plan fishing daytime hours. If you can fish late evening and nights, then it doesn't matter. With that being said, I'd advise heading to the Moen Chain. Don't get me wrong, you can catch fish on all of those lakes but I bet you'll find less hassle away from the skiers.

Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | I regularly fish all three of these waters. No matter which you chose, you will be on great water. The three different lakes vary greatly in water color, Crescent being clear, Three Lakes stained, and Moens is like coffee. All offer great chances at numbers of fish and some chance at a good one. If I were looking for a 50" fish however none of these lakes would be on my list, well maybe Three Lakes, but all are better numbers waters than trophy.

Location: Rhinelander, WI | Just a quick note, I am pretty sure there is a musky tourney on the Moens chain this weekend. 60 boats +/- I think. The Charlie Baker Open, about $3,000 on the line.
Might help you make your decision.

Location: minocqua, wi. | don't overlook some of the other lakes in the immediate vicinity of rhinelander. i guess i'd pick depending on what's up with the weather. we've got a huge storm threatening as we speak and i'm wondering if there is a cold-front behind it for tonight and tomorrow ... need to look at the weather site quick.
p.s. ... i hear there's a lake around rhinelander with a 52 swimmin' in it! .... shoot, it hasn't worn off yet |
