Posts: 2024 | I'm probably going to be headed up to Mille Lacs next summer (7/24-28) for a few days after our LOTW trip. I've only fished the lake once last 4th of July. I want to collect as much info as possible on areas, structure to fish, baits to throw, patterns that seem to work under certain conditions etc. I would love any info at all. I do have a few quick questions though that I'll ask right now. 1) Are the sand flats and adjacent weed beds on the North shore likely fish holding areas this time of year? 2) What's with the red pattern appearing to be a hot one on Mille Lacs? Any truth to this? 3) Where can I get a detailed (not the general FHS maps) map of Mille Lacs that might be broken down into regions of the lake with smaller depth intervals, etc. I seem to remember Reed's having some very detailed maps of either Mille Lacs or Leech, maybe Sportsmen's Connection? 4) What resort, hotel, lodge, etc. would be a good choice to stay at while up there? Thanks! My email is [email protected] if you'd rather respond in private.

Location: Athens, Ohio | Cave Run Lake guide Gregg Thomas had 11 fish over 50 there this year, I'c be contacting him thru his website at www.battlethebeast.com. I'm sure he could show you the ropes. As far as accomodations, we stayed a couple years ago at McQuoids lodge and were very pleased with the lodge, people, and of course the spa! Mr. McQuoid guids for muskies on the lake, too, and his son Aaron took us out for a very memorable day of walleye fishing. Great lake, have fun, m

Posts: 2024 | Gregg's the guy that got me started on Mille Lacs. I hired him last 4th of July and had a ball. He's a heck of a fisherman, well worth the money. Any other info people would be willing to share?

| Jason Hammernick is an excellent choice for Mille Lacs. The fish he had in his boat this year is unbelievable. He is very knowledgible and you will be a better fisherman after a day in his boat. I had some confidence issues on certain patterns and hired Jason for the day, he worked with me and what I learned improved my success dramatically. | |||
