Whoopie--all the good rains of late have raised LOTW a couple feet thus far so it's looking good for the opener in two weeks!! Hope it will bring the big mamas in as well....

I have had worse luck in high water than low water, but high water does help put numbers into a couple of bays, I fish at LOTW, but mostly high water seems to scatter them out into larger areas.More available structure.

Yes, you are right--much more structure--much more WEED available for both the fish and the angler. It also puts more rock under and deeper as it puts usual weed beds deeper to bring in the big girls. It seems the big ones stay off the edges/deeper more when the water is down and are less accesible to the average anglerwho focuses on this structure the high percentage of the time. It also puts those downed trees under water....just brings in more and bigger fish and makes for a very great time in our experience up there. At least the way we fish it anyway--talk to the guys on the water every day up there and they're catchin' em no matter what--they always know where the fish are movin'!! The higher water will hopefully make it a little safer for your props as well.

We had our best year ever two seasons ago with the record high water.  i prefer fishing current, and with high water, there is alot more of it.  Fish tend to stack up tighter in smaller nooks in these situations.  Much easier to pinpoint productive areas in high water, though two feet higher than last year is not quite really high water.  It is still lower than it was in 00-02.

I have spoken with a bud who lives in Nestor Falls and the water is up and a little above average. This is a good thing!!! One more month to go till I get to the shield!!!!!!

17 days till Nestor Falls, and time is going real slow. That,s what I heard about water levels, but a lot can change in a week or two.2 foot I can live with, but 4 foot really creates problems for me in some of my better areas, and I have problems locating them at times.Luckily. I have friends up there, who can help me with advice on what,s happening, and correctly steer me to where I should be fishing.I just am not a good high water fisherman, I guess.
