Posts: 774 | Hi all, I’m headed to Lac seul next week with my son (12). And my brother and his son (11) We want to bread away from Lac Seul for some muskies for a day or two and my research has told me canyon and Indian are good action/numbers lakes. I am the only one of the 4 of us that has any Muskie experience so I’m much more interested in numbers than size. Any tips or recommendations for choosing between these two lakes? Feel free to email me if prefered [email protected]. Looking to cut the learning curve if possible Thanks everyone

Posts: 23 | Haven't fished either lake but have a friend who has gone to Canyon a couple of times and we discussed his experience. He told me if I went there to throw small baits and fish the wind blown rock points and non-wind blown wood. Couldn't find a good depth map to point you to any other spots but have heard it is a pretty clear lake so be ready to hit it hard during low-light. Public access on Canyon is on the farthest east point of the lake near McIntosh Lodge. For Indian the access is also on the east side on Alexandra Access Road just north of Indian Lake Lodge. Best of luck and report back on your findings!

Posts: 176 | I fished the entire chain last season. Forest and Canyon are significantly deeper than the remainder of the chain. Wood and rocks are the deal there. As to the other end of the chain: the system doesn't have a ton of weeds. Find the weeds, and you will find fish. Baits were downsized for me. Regular shallow swimmin dawgs work well, mags were ignored and this was late summer.

Posts: 11 | Not been to either but have a friend that goes to the Indian chain he does good on numbers of Muskie. He said they aren't as big as Eagle top end wise but says it's WAY easier and safer to navigate than Eagle and has a lot of fish. I probably should of started there cause after going to Eagle and seeing those fish it's hard to want to go anywhere else. He says at Indian Lake Lodge and again says it's easy to run.

Posts: 7141 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | Just got back from a very blech week on Canyon. Now when I say blech was primarily because the guys I went with would start to melt after 2 hours on the boat. In the lake's defense: it was hot and flat all day everyday. Except one evening when a storm came in and they went nuts for about 15 minutes. My take away: weed beds on Canyon hold fish, but there's few and far between. More fish will be off shallow and DEEP edges of rock structure. Lots of fish, but if the conditions suck, so will the fishing.
