Fish mounts, Deer heads, pictures, and nicknacks. What do you have in your home? and where to buy?

If I was fitting out a cottage from scratch and in a hurry, probably go to Roughing it In Style south of Minocqua. Everything from rustic furniture to accent pieces. But, if you can take your time, shop thrift shops, marketplace, etc and find some unique pieces.
Lot of wealthy folks in lake country who swap out furniture, paintings, etc. with some frequency.

I would normally head to Bush and Gilles in Rice lake. They also have a place, I believe in Spooner, but not sure. Most of there offerings are all based on a Northwoods theme. Also, if you like Amish made furniture, that's the place to go in my area. Kdawg

If you are not concerned about your personal brag wall, you can get various deer heads and antler mounts, along with different fish mounts, at garage sales flea markets, and estate sales, for a song.

I got the idea for this post the other day when my one of my sisters stopped by. Up stairs my mom has a big wooden Swan I bought for them (my parents) at the Wood Shed in Eagle River back in the 90's. My sister was asking about it. So we looked on line and there were a few for sale 700- 800 bucks I paid under 100. Well back in the day The Wood Shed and Christmas House along with Cranberry House in Eagle River were great places to buy Northwoods art and nicknacks. Also a place in Minocqua and a couple places in Walker Mn. when over there. I have some great things I got from the Leine Lodge and used to buy stuff from the Musky Hunter store when it was on HWY 70 by St. Germain. We have a set of Deer head mounts (a Buck and Doe) my dad and grandpa shot back in the 1940's. We have a old Muskie mount from 1950 in a crate we don't have room to hang it. We also have a old mount of a10 Walleye my grandpa got in 1977 and the only newer mount is from my largest Muskie a reproduction of a released fish. We have caught a few big Smallmouths 34 inch Trout and our largest Muskie (my dad) were all released and no mounts made. I just bought a giant Rapala lure to hang on my wall. It's two feet long. My grandparents had a Cuckoo clock I just loved so I bought one for myself in the 1980's one of my sisters have my grandparents clock. My clock needs to be professionally cleaned to kept it going. Everytime it cuckoo's I think of my time on the Lake.
