| Keeping it simple, black for topwater, copper or martian green for blade color with black for bucktail. Kdawg |

| My brother in laws family has had a cabin on the Chip for almost 60 years and his late father always said you couldn't go wrong with red/white combos. Lot of musky pics on the wall and many show that combo. |

Location: Brighton CO. | Thanks for the replies. I'll being fishing with a guide so I won't being a ton of tackle (one rod, and some old favorites and some good looking new things) and of course to muddy the waters we will fish more then one body of water but the Flowage for sure. I just don't want to be the guy with a wall of tackle. Two years ago fished with the same guide brought a few things but between the guides and my tackle there were some holes. Adjustments have been made. |

Location: Twin Cities, MN | Hot / Bright / Sunny / no wind days – which usually make up most of the days when I am on vacation the end of July into August, I generally have these with me, and if the moons align ( all 9 of them ), I even see or possibly catch fish. I generally try to sneak out early in the morning and late in the evening.

The Big Chip is down a few feet currently, just returned from my annual family vacation. Water temps were improving with the cold front that stuck around for a few days, morning temps were down to 76 on Friday. Good Luck.

Location: Brighton CO. | Thank you for the continued replies I won't be up till third week in October so the top water should be done, but if it's not I can use the guides baits. I like my cranks and jerks in the fall and soft plastics too. I do love the Bucktail suggestions and I make my own. Since I started making Bucktails none of my tails made the trip. (two years we were up even later in October) From the suggestions above I think I've made some good ones. I would be nice to catch a fish on a lure I made. We talked of going in September for the top water bite and I could bring lots of my home made tails but It's a long hot summer here in Denver area were I live and I been on Northwoods in September only to be in the 80's. looking forward to the cool and cold weather. Thank you again. |
