| i have some wooden baits that are pretty beat up and like to take on water. I would like to keep them running well (especially my favorite Weagle) and I am wondering what to use to seal them back up. I have tried a few things that haven't worked very well.

Location: MN | I would send them off to get a coat or two of epoxy. If they are producers you need to keep them going. I would guess it would be pretty cheap to have done. |

Location: Minnesota. | I've made a few custom Suick-style baits (okay...Suicks  ) and wanted to seal some and leave others unsealed. I've found the epoxy called "E-tech" - (Enviro-tech IIRC ) did a super job! Got it w/a discount coupon from either Wally World or one of the fabric places like Jo-Annes or?? Can't rightly recall but one of the fellows on the "Basement baits/lure" section clued me in.
I'd recommend it! |

Location: Waukee, IA | If you can't find envirotex epoxy I know Menard's carries Famowood brand glaze coat two part epoxy which is essentially the same thing. Both Envirotex and Famowood epoxies require at least a day to set and a couple weeks to fully cure. 5 minute epoxy or superglue will do a similar job much faster. |

Location: Phoenixville, PA | You can get envirotex on amazon. There are many threads in the Basement Baits forum that can help you seal baits. There are also several good videos on Youtube.
If you use envirotex or any other similar product, you will need to rotate the baits while they dry. Most guys build their own devices do to this. There many helpful threads in Basement Baits.
I've brought back several old wood baits back to life using envirotex. One Bobbie bait had been eaten several times and always took on water. After it sat in the basement for a decade it dried out, and now, after it getting a good coat of epoxy, she runs good. |
