Posts: 439 Location: Lake of the Woods, Morson, Ontario | Apologies for the delay getting September started. A little busy over the long weekend and feeling under the weather left me less than energetic. Conditions on the lake are conducive to a good month. Water temps starting up in the low 70s have come down to upper 60s after some cooler nights. We will have below normal temps for the rest of the week (normal air temp 72) and normal lows (upper 40s.) Bloom is present when wind lays down completely, but any kind of breeze will push it around and make areas cleaner. As previously stated, do not hesitate to fish bloom if you have historically productive spots that are green. Group your casts a little tighter and do at least one full figure 8 with good focus and you will contact fish. Bucktails have been scoring the most often this week, though crankbaits had the biggest fish up and on during the Labour Day weekend festivities. I love this time of year for the decrease in fishing pressure and cool, crispness of mornings and evenings. Get on the water where you can, when you can. J-Man

Posts: 439 Location: Lake of the Woods, Morson, Ontario | Fish have been active, but haven't been staying pinned as much as our guests would like to report. A little bit of cold front condition went through and dropped surface temps about 4 degrees down to the mid 60s. A warming trend this week should hold temps steady or even bring them up some. Action has been all over the map with blades, cranks, gliders, topwaters and rubber all seeing action. Some giants have been spotted but have not been committing to baits. Many others nipping but not getting hooks. Water clarity has been better to the east as of last report from guys on the water the last couple of days. Fish landed this week included 46s, 47s, 48s and 49. The super tankers have been keeping them mouths shut the last few days. Everything from rocks to slop have been holding fish.

Posts: 439 Location: Lake of the Woods, Morson, Ontario | After a slower couple of days for strikes, a couple of our boats managed to land 6 an 3 and lose a couple as well yesterday (Sept 14). Majority of fish coming on crankbaits, but also has been some topwater and blade action. Biggest of these was 46, but good average size with just 1 of the 9 under 40 inches. Rock complexes and rock structure in combination with shoreline, weeds, saddles etc was the report. Above average temps (highs and lows) for the next few days should give some stability for more good bite action.

Posts: 61 | Just got back from a 4 day trip to Mylies. It was my first trip up there ever strictly muskie fishing. I had some good info to go off of from some guys I know, plus Justin circled a bunch of stuff and gave out some info as well. Great place to stay with a solid setup for muskie guys. Now for the fishing. We ended our 4 day trip with 5 muskies and 3 really nice pike. Our biggest was only 42. But I myself dumped 2 really nice mid 40" fish, and had my chances at 2-3 others that were hot in the 8, that I couldn't convert. We had pretty windy conditions for 2 of the 4 days making southern facing spots hard to fish. But we made it work. Our best stuff was wind blown rocks with depth raiders, followed by shallow rock reefs with topwaters and blades. Didn't see many fish in any weeds, only found a few spots with them though. We fished east and west, east had cleaner water, and west was chocolate milk for 2 days unless you found that clear patch. Good luck.

Posts: 439 Location: Lake of the Woods, Morson, Ontario | Fish have been active over the past week. Have heard mostly cranks and blades being the tickets. Rock structures/complexes. Bloom or no bloom. The fish are there. A full figure 8 or more at boatside will get you more fish than an L turn and done. Water temps low 60s...as high as 65. Overnight lows well above normal the next few days before coming down to almost normal. Daytime forecasted high for Saturday is 78 degrees. Still plenty of good action to be had out there. Have a great weekend. J-Man

Posts: 439 Location: Lake of the Woods, Morson, Ontario | As the month of September closes, the water temps are stil in the low 60s. we have not had a frost here at the lake yet, but inland areas were pretty white yesterday morning for the first time. Fish have been active around rock complexes and deeper points. Blades and cranks have been the best producers. The Nestor Falls muskie cup took place last weekend and was won by anglers throwing gliders on Friday and blades on Saturday. Again, rock structure was the ticket there. See you in October!
