So I had a musky rod stored in my car over the weekend and came back to find that it had warped when i went to fish with it yesterday. It's a good brand and basically brand new. has anyone else had this happen? any fix for it? any precautions i should take in the future?

I've stored lots of other rods the same way in the past without this kind of thing happening. Was I just lucky or is this an oddity? never heard of it happening before...

Thanks

Heat and graphite don't mix.

Some rods will have a slight warp to them to begin with, but usually the guides are put on it to cover it up so to speak. Hard to say if there is a flaw in it or not to make this happen where others have not. Should be able to talk to manufacture to see what options you may have, would have to say that if it did get that hot, it will have a weak spot now.

Best practice would be not to leave them in a car where the temp can get too hot.

Thanks for the input. Yea i'll definitely have to do that in the future, should have thought about it before but like i said i've never had a problem with keeping rods in my car. are there any other big no-no's when it comes to graphite rods, or necessary maintenance?

Basically just take care of them, clean and scratch free as possible.

Usually rods will warp when stored horizontally over the winter but never heard of them warping overnight. I suppose with the heat that probably caused it to warp.

hot cars are crazy hard on stuff...I had a compound bow limb break in a case in the backseat of a car once...the rep had no problem giving a replacement and said they see several of those a year.

might be worth a call to company as they might be interested in getting it back for evaluation
