| Nylon is the most common monofilament, been around a long time. Fluorocarbon is also a monofilament and has qualities more desirable for muskie fishing. Nylon leader material is significantly less expensive. Fine for Tarpon, and we use 200Lb for billfish. If you are going to try Nylon for muskies I'd go at least 150LB but personally I'll stick to Fluoro |

| Hard nylon is almost the same as Flouro. The problem is it gets week after a few season. The sun and elements weaken it over time. |

| Nylon absorbs water and loses up to 20% of its strength when soaked. It also degrades with UV exposure. Fluorocarbon doesn't absorb water, isn't degraded by UV, and has a refractive index which is closer to water's which makes it harder for fish to see. I think fluoro has a lot going for it except cost... |
