I'm reorganizing my lures this winter and want to make a rack that will incorporate the use of plastic gutter material.

For those of you old enough, think back to the days before tackle boxes were "worm-proof". Plastics would melt right into the box.

Are there any issues with plastic gutter material and the plastics we use, - 'Dawgs, D's, Tubes, Medusa's, Rubber Hairy's, etc. - melting or reacting.

Understandably, the last thing I want is to ruin these baits. Some of my "B Team" lures may be stored for quite some time.

Any any experience or advice?

I've now made 3x of these boxes with milk crate and downspout material from Home Depot, Haven't had any issues with the plastic melting on any of them.

Never an issue over the years using downspout and 4 x 4 post cover materials from both menards & lowes. If yer worried about prize rubber, store it in large planos & use big ziplocks to keep them apart. Thoughtful packing keeps the fins & tails straight and they stay clean inside the planos.

The downspout material is vinyl and I have had no issues with my plastics degrading due to that. Of course, I mainly use my boxes to carry them in a boat and not for long term storage. I hang them in the garage when not using.
