80lb tuf line xp... Can't break it if I try... And the 100lb feels the same as the 80lb.
I cant believe how many guys are still using power pro.
Anyone still using power pro should just try something different. Almost anything. |

3. powerpro
I hate the sufix 832, but the perf braid is decent. |

80lb tuf line xp... Can't break it if I try... And the 100lb feels the same as the 80lb.
I cant believe how many guys are still using power pro.
Anyone still using power pro should just try something different. Almost anything.
I've used powerpro for years with no issues....why do we need to try something different if it works great??? |

| I've got a question.. I see cortland makes a "musky master" braid... but it only goes up to 45 pounds.. why is that? |

| Oh, and am relatively new to musky fishing.. but have used suffix 832 on other applications and have been very happy with it.. however when using 65 pound on round abu reels for muskies, I was less than impressed.. Started off great, but wore out beyond my liking with well under 100 hours of use.. Doesn't seem right to me- and cannot find anywhere that line is rubbing. Others I fish with use power pro, but it sure sucks a lot of water back onto their hands, and is much louder.... but it seems to keep its shape better. |

| Tuff Line XP 100#, Suffix 832 80#. i really wish the 832 came in 100#...
I like the Masterbraid in the summer, but in the fall it retains way too much Moisture vs. the two above.

I didn't say it didn't work, it is however rough like rope, absorbs water like whoa, makes a lot of noise going through guides, and all the color comes off immediately to name a few things. VHS tapes worked great until DVDs came along, then they worked great until blu rays came along... But I'm sure there are still folks out there watching beta tapes because they've been "working great" for years. The idea of something "working great" is ultimately in the eye of the beholder, and sometimes when the beholder tries something different he comes to the realization that what he thought was so great wasn't really that great after all. Lastly, I didn't say you needed to do anything... I said you "should just try something different." I didn't say it to hurt anyone's feelings, I gave it as some good helpful advice... Good luck. |

Lost a couple of lures using Power pro 80lb, so i switch all of my reels to tuf. |

I know a man that still fishes with his hands, hasn't had any of the issues you state above, and also has never had a break off yet....easily the best line anyone has posted. |

Try runnin new line in the fall stead of spring.
Sheds water a lot gooder when it's new.

| When I started muskie fishing I used PowerPro 65 and 80. After losing a number (probably 6-10) of lures due to line failure during a backlash, I switched to TufLine XP 80. That's all I use now. Tried 832, good line but didn't like it as much as TufLine XP. Last summer I had the "privilege" of watching two of the hottest lures in my boat sink to the bottom of the lake when I borrowed them to guys who had PowerPro 80 on their reels. Same deal, backlash and buh-bye. Awesome. New rule is if you have PowerPro on your reels you don't get to borrow any of my stuff! |

Location: Hayward, WI | It's been years ago since I used Powerpro but it was the 1st line I tried. Bled badly, and after a season I'd say my 80lb broke at about 20 lb test. I'm sure it could be much different and better now.
I've been using Cortland Masterbraid and Suffix 832. Been using the Masterbraid for several years and been quite happy with it. Also had a reel or 2 with 832 and it's worked well so far. Seems thinner and rounder, certainly feels "harder." Only thing with that line is I try to remember to get it wet before heaving an 8 oz+ bait otherwise it seems to burn my thumb a little.
I think most of them are good now but Masterbraid Bronzeback and 832 have been doing all I need them to for the last 5 years or so. |
