I know alot of people use glue on their knots for added strength. Does superglue work the same as "fisherman's" glue? I have heard rumors of super glue melting the line. Anybody know if this is true?

Any of you have experience with this?

Thanks

Hi- I use "Loctite -Quicktite" no problems. Comes in a small trangular shaped bottle. See jpg. Just filled my 2 Shimano Curado 200"s w/ 65 lb power pro & tied on new jerk bait leaders. Glued the line-to spool (no slip on the spool w/o a backing- (tip from another MF member)& the knots. I have been using it for knot's since last year (absolutely no knot failures). The bottle is way easier than the tube of "fishin glue"- Plus it has never clogged or dried out-The bottle I have on the desk was in boat all winter. Great stuff- I get mine @Menards.  Just tied some 17lb Berkley Trilene XT- line broke at ~6" from the knot. Haven't tried it for flourocarbon or gluing tails to lures yet- but it certainly works great for knots on mono & superlines.

Al, when the bottle is empty, paint a face on it; reminds me of an ancient Inca warrior head. I had a bottle of that stuff, and it does work good!

Sponge- Great idea!!!!...I think I'll donate it to Ranger for his off season shrine for his favorite bucktail reel. It should help drive the evil spirits away over those long yooooper winters.
