Location: Grove City, OH | I am going to have $800 to spend on a fishfinder and GPS. I prefer separate units. I am looking at possibly the Bottomline 5100 and the new Magellan FX324 GPS Chartplotter. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Greg |

The "fishfinder" is you, your experience, and your plan...ok ok.. I know what you meant but I wanted to rib you a bit, but this is true. Your knowledge is what is the fishfinder...
For $800 I would suggest both a Garmin 240 for the sonar, and the Garmin GPS/Map of your choice. Dont' think you will find two better units for the money.
Other suggestions:
Eagle Fisheasy 320 for the sonar.
Garmin 12 Gps if you want a hand held unit.
When I was a young'n I used to call my GPS and Fishfinder, "Grandpa"... Man I miss those days...:) |

| I'd suggest the Lowrance X-97 and the GlobalMap 3200. Get both for just $800. Reeds price. You may want to check Thornes, also. Both units have 320X320 displays. The X-97 is an enhanced version of the Eagle 320 Elite, and about $50 more. More power than the Fish Mark 320, too.
I have the LCX-15MT, and I wouldn't give it up, cept for maybe the LCX-104C. Anybody got an extra $2300 laying around? LOL |

| Actually the price of a Lowrance 3200 and X-97 is 765.00 and a X-15 combo is 899.99, hope that helps. Matt |
