there are some designated campsites on the south shore of high and a couple mid way down the north shore. i think they are first come first serve. been a couple years since i have fished out there. seen some big fish as well.

There are several rustic campsites on each lake. I prefer to use the campsites on fish trap because they offer better wind protection. You can launch a boat at Wittig's resort for a small fee and there is a point directly across from there main dock that has a nice campsite to use. The campsite is right across the bay from the bar so if fishing get tough there is always a place to go. It is still far enough away to give you the great outdoors feeling. The launch at Wittig's is much nicer than the high lake public launch and a better place in my opinion to leave a vehicle. Depending on the size of your boat and water levels there is a culvert that you can use to pass from lake to lake. I trim up all the way and push myself through just to be certain. Many people seem to spend more time on the more pressured high lake however I have caught large fish from both and would focus more on fish trap if the weather is bright and sunny. Both lakes are better after dark and in the fall. Open water fishing is sometimes the ticket on these two when the bite seems tough. Hope this helps!

I know there are at least 3 rustic campsites on each lake. Like last poster said fish trap camp sites are a little more protected from wind and such. I know each site has a fire pit, pit toilet and a picnic table. Love those lakes!

These lakes will always bring back great memories to me. Porter Dean one of the old northwoods guides use to fish these lakes often. . If Jim Wittig is up and around he can tell you a great deal of the good old days. I use to camp on fishtrap lake and stay at Wittigs Resort a lot in the 1970,s. The campsite across from WITTIGS resort can keep you sheltered from bad weather. Wittigs has a boat launch the charge iam sure is still fare. High lake has a nice campsite on battleship island. I have not fished these lakes in 10yrs there use to be a lot of fishing pressure .But don,t over look surface baits in the evening 6.00 - until dark on these lakes. Good luck Lurenut
