Just purchased the revo toro winch 60(first high end reel for me) and was wondering what brake settings I should be using. I adjusted the fricton knob all the way, but it seems the bucktail drops a little fast yet, but the reel does stop when the bucktail hits the floor, which is good. I mostly throw double cowgirls in 8s and 10s and I just want to make sure I'm getting the most out of the reel.
Thanks, still learning yet

Adjust the brakes inside the left cover so that 4 brakes are out. Use the friction knob only to eliminate play in the spool and for nothing else. This will make your reel last much longer and have fewer parts wear out.

I agree with Ryan. If you are getting backlashes, set more of the internal spool brakes "out." Run the friction cast control pretty loose. Even the lightest musky baits will pull line out from a baitcaster, even with the cast control knob tightened all the way. I think the method of adjusting the spool tension is more conducive to bass and walleye setups with 1/4-1/2 oz baits.

3 are automatically set in the out position with springs, pick your favorite of the other 3.
