| I was doing some reading on trolling for muskie and read that mono was the way to go because it wouldn't break rods and would help setting the hook. I spooled up a line counter with 40lb. p-line mono, and planned on a 100lb. flouro 36" leader is this the right thing to do? I only ask because after spooling up I was watching a video on youtube where they were running 150lb power pro. What have you had the best luck with? Thanks for any replies. |

Location: Walker, MN | I have always used 80#-100# Power Pro but this year I switched to Power Pro depth hunter in 65# test. With this metered line there is no reason for a line counter reel. I just use my old 7000's. I run 4' of 130# flouro and check it often. Brick and mortar tackle shops don't carry this line because they wouldn't have sold millions of line counter reels in the past few years if they did. Mono might add shock absorption if your drag is not set perfectly, I opt for 8' Shimano TDR glass rods. They are cheap and have a nice forgiving bend to them. |

| for me a line that give you a depth estimation at only each 5 feet deserve a line counter.and anyway a tekota is a lot better than a 7000 |

Location: Lake of the Woods, Morson, Ontario | I wouldn't troll Lake of the Woods with anything less than 80# and have one reel with 100#. Snags at 4 MPH are pretty tough on line, swivels, snaps, etc.
I prefer spinder wire ultra cast invisibraid, but like TUF line as well.
Longer rod that will load up good will take care of any hooksets for you in most cases.
