I'm looking to get a new real to be used primarily for twitchin'.
Any suggestions on Brands and/or gear ratio?

The standard Garcia 5500C is great for twitching. Your really dont need to bring in lots of line when twitching. The slower the better!

Me above. Also, anyone have anything to add to this or correct me if I'm wrong. This is one of my favorite topics, so add yer 2 cents. Bearings, Lube, Gear materials, ect

Raze, thanks for the advice. Although, most of the technical 'stuff' went over my head, if you ketch my drift.
Any recommendations on a reel that's under $300?

Neil,
I'll go along with Jason on the 5500. My friend is a long time Granny twitcher and he loves the 6500 Big Game(the 5:1 I think) I got the high speed 6.3:1 6500HCL Big Game,(way too fast). The standard Calcutta isn't a good choice, as they lack an anti-reverse pawl and rely solely on the Super-Stopper anti-reverse bearing. I have used them for that purpose, but slack-line hits will wear that bearing quickly and eventually wear out the side plate as well. I have replaced both...................RAZE
