with the weight of the blades and everything, I think the ones I make come to a little under 3.5 oz.

i use .040 blades, solid beads, .063 wire and a mix of tinsel and rubber for the tail they weigh just over 4 oz. Bill

3/8 is good. A little bigger if you prefer
