| I was thinking of fishing the river this weekend is the us side of it any good. I don't really hear to much about the us side as I do Canada. Do most fish move out of the river and into the lake or is it worth a trip.

| There are some fish in the river. Not as many as last year. In the cool springs they seem to stay in the river a lot longer than in above average spring weather like this year. The ice was gone way early this year, whereas last year I had to break through it to get out on April 2nd resulting in a later spawn. The fish move down from St.Clair to spawn and then filter back as summer progresses...of course it's all just theory without telemetry studies, but to be a good angler you need to be a good theoretician first. |

| Yeah, they do if there are lot of shad present. Some years there are almost no shad, usually i find this comes from too clear of water for too long of time instead of having it get stirred up from the wind etc. Some years, like a couple of years ago, the shad get so thick that the bottom 6-8 ft was solid shad by late fall and the ice fishermen complained all winter about all the shad in the holes...maybe it is a good shad spawn that year or lots of plankton, I have no idea but when lots of shad move in, so do musky and it is true on a lot of places on the Great Lakes. Lots of migratory pattens in the current of this area...just some 2 cents. |
