Howdy

I was wondering if anybody has any advice on adding a power trim/tilt unit to a boat. It's going on my dads Tracker Pro 17 with a Mariner 40hp. Never had one before so no idea what to look for. A few places locally say they can get Panther units, are they any good?

Thanks
Brian

Never saw a Panther for that size motor, but have seen CMC. Seemed to work OK, but set the motor back about 6-8 inches. I wonder if for the same money you can get a factory T&T from a marine slavage yard. There's a place in the Twin Cities that has lots of stuff. Can't recall the name right now.

I was wondering about motor setback, what kind of effect does that have? A little bit will help, as he has a Humminbird 798SI that we want to put the transducer on the back of the boat, has it on the trolling motor right now because the motor is in the way for the side imaging.

I thought about checking around for factory takeoffs at a salvage yard, I'm about an hour north of Minocqua, WI so I'd think there would be something around there. I'll check at that twin cities place, thanks.

That's the place. Thanks for reminding me.

Looks like they will have a factory T&T system for your motor.
