Just curious how many are running sirus weather with their Lowrance HDS systems?

This will be my 3rd year running it. I use the Marine inland package. It shows the wind barbs and allows me to anticipate wind switches in advance. A couple years ago in Central Minnesota we had some very severe weather with rain bands and a large tornado come through. I was able to keep my guest dry by running to the landing between rain bands (he forgot his rain gear) I was also able to anticpate the wind switches and wind speed gains. We also were able to vacate the water prior to the really bad stuff. We also had good fishing between the stuff. I also use the system on LOTW and it works well. Needless to say I really like the system and wanted to give a report for those who have looked at it.

I just picked one up yesterday for another boat. They are on sale right now for 99.00. I spend way more than that filling up my tow rig on regular basis these days.

Make sure your partner has rain gear, and use that wind shift info to get on your hot spot before it gets there

Just bought one of these with two HDS 8 units, for a new boat. I haven't installed it yet though. We have used XM Weather for a few years, for an RV. It's great stuff, and I am really looking forward to using it on the water. Do you also use the XM Radio feature of your unit Jeff? We're big fans of that as well, and listen to it 99% of the time in the car now--so it will be great to have it on the boat as well.

I don't have the radio feature on mine. I did install an on/off switch inline so if it is a flat calm blueberry sky day it puts less drain on the battery. You will really like the weather overlay on the HDS.

The On/Off switch is a good idea! I'll definitely have to look at that when I plan the electrical system install for the electronics. Lowrance has this "Sonic Hub" product that I may also take a look at, especially if the radio that comes with the boat is not capable of supporting XM reception. The salesman thought it was, but it was only an option in 2009 so he doesn't know if they ordered it that way or not. I guess I will figure it out in a few days when I pick up the boat.
