Posts: 1453 Location: Kronenwetter, WI | I have a trollmaster pro2 system...was installed on 05 Ranger in 07. Has the dial, not digital. When I power on the hand held unit, it powers up fine, the idle button light works as well. However, there was no response from my servo motor, so the throttle obviously did not change either. Ordered and plugged in a new servo motor confident that was the issue, but no. The new servo does not respond either. I'm wondering if there may be a fuse somewhere that I need to check, but not sure where to look. The unit does not appear to be wired into the fuse board, it appears that the wires run directly to the motor, so I'm not sure where to find a fuse if there even is one. The install was done at the marina where I purchased my T-8. Any pointers or thoughts and what to try next would be appreciated. Thanks,

Posts: 5874 | The control unit can be separated from the cable for storing. I'd pull it apart, and check for corrosion on the pins and sockets. Edited by Shep 4/28/2012 5:07 PM

Posts: 1453 Location: Kronenwetter, WI | Ill check that. If i get a voltage meter should i be able to get a reading from the leads that connect to the servo motor when the dial is turned?

Posts: 5874 | Probably, but I don't have a clue what you should be reading. Go visit an RC hobby shop and they could match it up, and perhaps test it. Give Scott at Marine tech a call. Marine Tech is 1-866-228-7655 Edited by Shep 4/28/2012 5:08 PM

If the unit is getting power (turning on), I don't think it would be a fuse issue. If your fuse was blown it wouldn't work at all. That assumes the servo is powered through the control unit and not separately connected to power from the kicker motor...but that might be worth checking just in case. Pop the cowling off the cover and make sure the connection to the servo motor is still in place. Follow the gray wire to the black plastic spade connection to the orange/brown wires coming off the servo motor. Maybe that shook loose somehow? And as Shep said, you might want to check for condensation/corrosion. I just had a new one installed this spring, and I noticed condensation inside the face before I ever even used it. First time out it had problems, turning itself off at random times and then cycling the servo motor even after it was off. (Thankfully my dealer's replacing it for me.) Pop the head unit open and check for water or corrosion and while you're in there check the connections of the servo control's wires to make sure nothing popped off the board.
