My Dad and I are heading up to Eagle Lake and are staying at AML in September. We're debating bringing our own boat or renting one from the lodge. We operate out of a 16 foot aluminum tracker with a 40 merc, one depth finder, and a trolling motor. Our boat is comfortable, easy to fish out of, and we are very use to it.

However, the boats offered at the lodge are very comparable. 17ft with a depth finder and a trolling motor. It would be really nice to rent a boat and not have to worry about dragging our's all the way up there. I pretty much had my heart set on renting a boat but I just finished reading Muskies on the Shield and Pearson really stresses the importance of boat control and knowing how to operate it.

What do you guys think? Bring our own boat up or rent one from the lodge? I should also mention that we have never been to Eagle Lake before.

Rent the boat. Seems like the rental boat is pretty close to what you have and you wouldn't have to tow the boat.

I have been there a few times and I would rent. They have nice boats and you won't have to tow and if you have any boat issues you just get another boat from Herbie.

Thanks for the input! I know AML is top notch but I just wanted too see what others thought. Looks like we'll be renting, I can't wait and it's only March!
