| I don't hear much about this reel. Being HD and the ability to change to 4 to 1 it seems like it should be a very good cheaper reel. How about some comments from users. |

I have had a 7001HS (High Speed) and after a couple of hours its fails to reel in line. I've sent it back to Abu and when I used it again, again it failed after only hours of use. Don't bother with those gold reels. i wonder if i can trade it for cash on the gold market? |

| HD is heavy duty
They are black and chrome, not gold. |

Location: Gurnee, Illinois | I have 4 of these, use them primarily for fall live bait fishing. They have an update for the bait clicker assembly, so depending on the build date whether you get the "new" clicker or not. If it doesn't come in the reel, you can purchase and install yourself very easily.

Location: Denmark | The Amb 7000 series is without doubt, one of the best big-bait reels ever made. The construction is timeless, and tons of large Saltwater predators have been caught on the 7000's since it entered the market 40 years ago.
Later models like the 7000i series are produced in China, this means it is more prone to failures because the assembly lines, and the materials can't match what ABU in Sweden is capable of. Often parts are missing inside, I see this every week when I repair reels for others. But generally the 7000i series is still heck of a reel, and with prober maintenance there is a good change it will outlive it's owner. |
