My brother and I are planning on fishing the ProMAC tourney on Pewaukee May 21. Anyone have any good recommendations for lodging? We'd prefer a cabin / house on the lake if possible but are open to suggestions from anyone who knows the area. Doesn't have to be anything fancy. Thanks a lot.

There are no resorts, motels or rentals on Pewaukee Lake...just houses that are several hundred thousand dollars higher ( some millions higher ) than you would ever believe them to be worth. You are going to be looking at the several motels that are located on the I-94 corridor in the Pewaukee or Western Waukesha area. Fortunately for me, this is one of the few events I can fish and still sleep in my own bed. I will say that although you can't stay on the lake, Smokey's Musky Shop is likely to be the best spot you are likely to find on musky fishing waters anywhere and, at least for equipment needs, you will not have to leave the lake.

If you do a google search, look for hotels in Delafield or in Waukesha/Pewaukee. Make sure that they are close to highway 94 and you will be within 5-10 minutes of the lake. I know that there are a few hotels in Waukesha/Pewaukee right off of Silvernail road. That location would put you about five minutes from Smokey's Muskie Shop. You will want to launch there if staying on Silvernail.

If you stay in Delafield, the public launch on the west end is really, really close.

As long as you bring up launching, I would make a pretty strong suggestion for the non-locals to use the public launch on the West end. Early in the season Smokeys can still have stored pontoons taking up a lot of the parking. If you do go there (and I do like the ramp) you have to pay Smokeys to park and the city box to launch. It is still about a buck less total than the public ramp but you will regret not remembering to pay the city if you forget. Still, if you don't know your way around, you will do better at the county ramp. Marty Forman

Location: SE Wisconsin
Many times guys stay at the Radisson.. It shares the parking lot with the Machine Shed where the rules meeting is.

Machine Shed, N14 W24145 Tower Rd (EXIT 294 OFF I94) Waukesha, WI

This will put you a couple miles, as the crow flies, away from the West End launch.
