| Hi Guys: I've been going to the angle for 9 years now. Have the same trip planned this year as usual in late July. It's about 8 to 9 hours for me to get there. I've been thinking about hitting Nestor Falls or Sioux Narrows sometime later in the year perhaps in September. It's only a 6 hour drive and that can be done on a long 3 or 4 day weekend. For the guys here that have fished both the NW Angle and the Nestor Falls/Sioux Narrows areas, what do you think? Am I going to be out of my element or is the fishing similar to the angle? Thanks - Midge | |||

Posts: 906 Location: Warroad, Mn | Midge: Haven't fished out of Nestor Falls, but have been close many times. My feeling is that the fishing out of Morson is equal to what I see at the Angle, and maybe better at times as there's less pressure during prime times. There seems to be as many fish and as many big fish, and lots of spots with more weed growth (not as many Rusties). I don't fish Sabaskong it's self as much as west of there. Water color and spots are very similar. You'll probably run into algae in either the Angle or the Sabaskong area in September. You can still catch fish, but you may have to run at times to find clean water. Been fishing Whitefish also for many years and my feeling there is that it's improving quite rapidly. Ten-fifteen years ago muskies where hard to find in Whitefish, but that no longer seems to be a problem. Very little pressure and clear water. You need better conditions to score, but it's fun in September if things are right. Done all of that a lot! Doug J Edited by dougj 6/2/2010 7:37 PM

Posts: 126 | Can't speak for the other areas but the Angle was good to us last year. A group of 8 of us got 45 fish in six days up to 50.5 and lost a couple more really good fish. None of us had ever been there before so... We stayed at Sandy's and it was a great place to be.

Posts: 335 Location: Minnesota | You won't be out of your element - other than you will be fishing all new spots. Both sides can be good. You will be just fine - go for it.
