I'm toying with the idea of getting a smaller boat for shallow water. Just wondering what other guys out there are running. Was kinda thinking a Jon boat with about a 65" beam. Is that going to be wide enough for casting? It has a front casting deck so I would assume it's fine. What about a tunnel hull for a Jon boat? Is it better to have that vs a flat bottom Jon? Any suggestions or pictures of what guys/gals are running would be great. Thanks, Jeff

Another thing I would maybe consider would be row trolling this boat. Anyone row a Jon boat with any success. Doubt it would get done much but would maybe like the option to do it.

A Swamp Rat boat might work for you.
16' Length
62" Beam
48" Floor width
20" Transom
Weight is 450 lbs without console and 510 lbs with center console.
Front deck seems big enough for casting.

Tuffy Esox. Designed for muskie, floats in almost nothing, powers with as little as a 9.9 nicely, and weighs about 500 pounds.

I had an alumacraft 16' bass boat w/ a 25 and it would float in a few inches of water. Similar boats can be bought from tracker, g3, xpress, ect.
