looking for a good place to get parts. the reel is new. during cranking it started to lock up. i took it apart and found the bearing inside the right side plate for the handle was in pieces. i look at several schematics and cant find a part number for this. Is is part of the right side plate? surley you can knock it out and repace it.

any one got an abu garcia upgraded. been thinking about it. mine just dont hold up and last anymore. thanks

Howdy,

Check this link out: http://www.mikesreelrepair.com/product_info.php?cPath=47_48_135&pro...

I've cleaned, lubed and repaired a lot of reels for myself and friends, but never replaced a clutch bearing in an Abu reel. I don't know how easy it is to press the old one out and the new one in. Shimano and Daiwa have removable clutch bearings. I've replaced a few of them and it's easy. Otherwise, there's a few of the sideplates on EBAY from a seller named gilbertspaylakeinky. I've bought some parts from him pretty cheap and he's good to work with. I hope this helps.

I ordered a replacement side plate from abu since they wouldn't sell the one way separate. I think it was about $35. Wish I would have seen this first.

OUtdoor World Rod and Reel Repair has been a good source of parts for me. They are actually pretty cheap and fast. I have used Mike's Reel Repair too. I like the online schematics on Mike's website. You can find the contact info for Outdoor World Rod and Reel Repair through Bass Pro Shops.
