I'm going to be fishing with Russ Smith in a few weeks and was wondering what baits have been working up there besides suckers, any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Russ will know better then anyone. I live near there and all my action has been suckers for two weeks now. But when fishing suckers I'm not always casting, I'm rowing or reading a book.

A few weeks can make a huge difference but I'll guess that Russ will have you throwing one of his extra weighted jerkbaits at some point or maybe a Mercer Creek. Suckers over the side no doubt. Russ is a great guide and a heck of a nice guy. You'll enjoy your time with him and learn a lot too.

my dad was up there 2 weeks ago and the lake was turning over, it was really tough for him (he has never fished the lake) he had some luck on a few rock humps with weeds on them as well. he was using deep diving crank baits around the humps. he said he couldnt buy even a follow using other baits, but if your baits would get deeper that would get some attention.

that was two weeks ago, things can really change in 2 weeks

Thanks for info you've all given me for my annual trip up there! Unfortunately, I just found out this week that I'll be going under the knife in a week or two and will be done for the rest of the season. I agree with the weighted jerk baits and mercer creeks as they have been our favorites for the past couple of years. Was wondering what everyone else has been using and being successful with. You all have a great day!
