| I know the weather has been smokin' hot, but I'm thinking about Webster in the fall. I've probably fished this lake for musky more than any other, but I don't have much to show for it. I've boated 1 - 36" musky in about 7 trips over the past 5 years (I know... sad indeed). While the lake doesn't look like anything from the north country, it's my best resource close to home (2.5 hrs). Recently I have learned of the top water bite over 30'+ of water. This blew my mind, but I guess it makes sense if the shad are running in the top 15' of the water column. Can anyone share any tips for a musky fisherman with slipping confidence? |

If my eyes did not deceive me, maybe the man himself will chime in! I'm all ears (eyes) too, as my aunt and uncle have a spot on a point on the western side of that lake, so I'm pretty sure a visit is in my future!

Location: Palm Coast, FL | Actually I think it is 3 guides per acre.
The Webster Lake Musky Club has some nice events throughout the year...actually a fall league coming up fishing different lakes around the area.
Vertical jigging is a real knockout on Webster and have put many fish in my boat. Good electronics really helps when it comes to vertical jigging. Bulldawgs are a must. We do pretty good on crankbaits/jerkbaits.
Late Fall, before the ice comes on (18 in one day losing 9 more), is a really good time for us. We were able to get out Jan 16 of this year on Webby for 4 hours (certain pattern). Randy Bush and I boated 10 fish in 4 hours with the first 2 being doubles.
You are correct about the topwater bite over deep water...using suckers/bluegills also work over the deep water dragging it along while casting. |
